Im really getting into the book "Debt: The First 5,000 Years" by David Graeber which is about the history of debt. It's all over the place, talking about how neither money or "bartering" was used in ancient civilizations, but they had a system of debtors and creditors and why we feel the need to pay back our debts.. The book gives some very interesting facts, such as the first word meaning "freedom" was used by the ancient Mesopotamians for when Sumerian kings would declare all existing debts that anyone had null and void. It is a very interesting and thought provoking book and I highly recommend anyone interested in human behavior, finances and or history to pick up this book.
