What is the best book that you had to read for school?

The only book I remember reading and quite liked was Of Mice and Men, but I read a lot in my free time so it's more a reflection of how little we read in school (and how utterly boring and uninteresting those "easy to read" shortened versions are; they never fail to destroy the author's use of language, which is the only thing that my liking or disliking of a book depends on...)

In Cold Blood by Truman Capote is the best book I've ever read. Hands down.
