@Yodaboyaz that is odd indeed, but certainly fascinating to contemplate.

I just set up a bank account today! I think I’m adult!
My work needs a place to pay me, so I had to go in and set that up. I met a very nice young man named Ben who explained how everything would work and it all went swimmingly. I think he was happy to be dealing with someone who more or less understood everything and knew what they wanted. I learned a fair bit, but nothing earth shattering.

@Yodaboyaz Dreams can be so strange. A couple months ago, I had a dream where I was in a boarding school in some sort of dystopian world? I don't remember exactly. I went to the lost and found and found a little tiny baby kitten that looked like the one in this video: https://youtube.com/watch?v=PGnR9MFLmPA. I found myself feeling very strong motherly instincts toward this little tiny kitten (the dream kitten, not the video kitten). I still can't look at a kitten without remembering that feeling. Anyways, this is just my story about weird dreams.

@NeiroAtOpelCc Gosh, I wish I could. Alas, I will be in India for all of June for my cousin's wedding.

@the_one_on_the_left Congratualations on your bank account. You are adulting quite well.

I’ve left my house more often for stuff for this job in the last two weeks than I usually go outside in two or three months... I’m a bit of a hermit.

@Yodaboyaz write a novel about it. Really though that is perfect Y.A novel plot. You must keep us updated on it.
Sorry I am a Y.A novel hoe. You don't have to.

My favorite subject is History or English. I am by far a liberal arts person. Math is so far above my head, I a surprised I am getting by in pre-cal.

I always struggle with the question of what my favorite school subject is. Like @ohalltheplaces , I love learning about History and English and would certainly love those regardless of who I was raised by. And by English, I mean I really enjoy reading. I REALLY don't like when teachers overanalyze literature. There's a poem called Introduction to Poetry by Billy Collins that expresses this better than I ever could. Link: https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/46712/introduction-to-poetry But on the other hand, my dad's a math teacher, so I am always ahead in my math classes because of the influence I got from my parents. It's kind of hard to decide.

I have to agree with you. That does sound like the plot to a good book. Too bad that I am terrible at writing fiction and have no motivation to get better.

@Yodaboyaz I like to write fiction a lot. I have worked and failed on like 12 novels. I am, however, not at all the type to write a romance one. lol

@hermionegranger That is a truly beautiful poem. I like to approach my literature the way they talked about in "The Dead Poets Society" (which is my favorite movie.)

@everyone what is your favorite (or one of yours) favorite movie?

My favorite movie is a actually an Indian movie called Baahubali. It's about a cliche sort of evil uncle unrightfully (is there a better word for that?) on the throne, and the main character who is the rightful heir has to fight to get it back. It seems pretty cliche, but there's a lot of background that makes it unique which I really like about it.

My favorite movie in English is either The Greatest Showman or Wonder, both of which I absolutely adored. I don't think I would have liked Wonder as much if I hadn't read the book, though.

@Yodaboyaz @hermionegranger I have not actually watched any of those movies, but most of them are on my list of ones to see in the future. (My long awaited after 18 future)

I haven't see The Greatest Showman, but I have read and seen Wonder. My family read Wonder several years ago. I would have to agree with you that, having read the book, I liked the movie more.

@the_one_on_the_left Thanks! I'll check it out.

@everyone Do you ever get super excited about something but then realize that none of your friends are nerdy enough to understand your excitement?

@hermionegranger Yes, in my own way. I recommend getting a significant other who truly cares about you; they’ll take pleasure in you being excited and want to understand what made you that way.

I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before, but I like being right and often am. Which is arrogance if I’m wrong, and confidence if I’m not. I’ve noticed this funny thing that tends to happen about 80% of the time when my friend tries to argue with something I’m confident I’m right in. We argue along and I find the fallacy or logic gap or other hole in his argument and point it out, showing how his answer is wrong with his premises. Then, he makes this sound, “eh?.” He makes it in the most derisive, undermining, your-point-doesn’t-matter kind of way, and it used to irk me. Now, I just laugh at his face and enjoy my victory as smug as can be.
You may think “perhaps he has a point and you earn petty technicalities as victories” you’d be wrong ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

@hermionegranger every. day. of. my. life. Try asking any of my friends about the months leading up to Turtles, or whatever nerdy excitement I am in to, like this new album.

I often begin my rants with " I know you don't care, but hear about this thing I am super excited about."

I typically begin my rants in a similar way :) my rants typically start with "I know you dont care but..."
congrats on moving out soon, do you have a place ur planning on moving into yet?
also whats the name of the album (to lazy to check if you said it earlier) im always on the hunt for more music to listen to
I feel we were made to add joy to that hurt. To show people that life may not be the best, but it's not the worst. To show that without darkness there would be no light, but there can be light in the world.

@SANTA_ATE_CHICAGO WELCOME! We are happy to have you.

    @Rancron welcome back!
I will have to rant to answer that question so let's just start it with " I know you might not care but... " The album's name is Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino. It is being released May 11th by the band Arctic Monkeys. They have five other albums and if you would listen to them I would suggest their first album " Whatever People Say I Am That's What I Am Not" if you are into rock. Their last album " AM" is not quite as good, but more pop if that's what you're into.
ALSO they just announced a concert in Dallas and I am so hyped because that will be my first concert!
Sorry about that if you didn't need all that info.

I am moving out into a friends house, and it is sort of a long story. But the short of it is that my parents are SUPER STRICT so this will be liberating.

@the_one_on_the_left Unfortunately for me, significant others are hard to come by in middle school. Especially because most of the time they are not especially significant to either party.

Most of the time I tell my dad about the oh-so-exciting thing. He is very smart and is one of the reasons I became so nerdy, and even if he doesn't care he'll pretend to. (kind of like significant others are supposed to be like) But he's in India so my usual method isn't working.

@ohalltheplaces Congratulations on moving out! I started listening to Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not, and I'm enjoying it. Thanks for sharing!

@the_one_on_the_left I, in no way, agree that a significantly other is an answer to being understood, or having people to listen to you. I have however have never had one, so I guess my opinion is invalid. In my experience just a regular friend that is willing to listen to me scream all day about how I will be in the same room as Alex Turner will do.

@SANTA_ATE_CHICAGO Really, you are very welcome. This forum is really slow sometimes. But I promise we are as cool as nerds get. ( I think)

@hermionegranger I am glad that you are listening to the album, I hope you enjoy the band. I am sorry about your Dad being away.

and @Yodaboyaz and @hermionegranger Thank you for your support. This is a huge very difficult decision that I have made. I hope it goes well.

@ohalltheplaces It isn’t the only solution, or necessarily the best one, but I maintain that is one. A significant other who neither listens to you talk about things you like, nor makes an attempt to understand why you’re so excited, is hardly one that I want.

@hermionegranger I did not. I am a "little bit" upset. There are still tickets for Oklahoma city, which is manageable from where I live. I don't know if I will be able to get to order them by the time they sell, since they are selling so fast.
No matter what happens I still have my health. lol
